Expression beyond the cave

The major goal my life leads me to is excellent freedom of self-expression.  I’m a firm supporter of teaching people to separate fact from opinion.  This skill leads to less emotion and more logic in progressive discussion.  It is an end I seek to establish; I seek greater knowledge of self in my mind.  I have set forth a chain of events and a state of mind in my social life to make this possible.  I believe I will meet these goals of self-expression because I actively pursue them in my everyday dealings with peers and everyone I meet.  I establish candid relationships with new friends, and work towards candor in all existing ones.

BEKASI, INDONESIA - FEBRUARY 10: A patient is...

In the last five years I have made mistakes, hurt feelings, broken hearts, and caused disruption in people’s lives.  I have been down to the bottom, without a dime to my name, struggling through deep depression. But I have also had some great times, made good decisions, been a positive role model, and changed people’s lives for the better.  The good times have closely paralleled the bad times, in that I learn equally important life lessons through reflection of these eras of my life.  So what would I change about the past 5 years of my life? Not a thing.

The reflective end

November 11th, 2010 admin Comments off

With two weeks left before the end of my short life, I look back, with an eye towards unresolved regrets.  I don’t have to ponder long, as one sticks out. During my grandmother’s battle with cancer, I was of little actual help to her, and I was more worried about myself.  I’ve done as much as possible to resolve this issue, but as she is dead, there’s only so much I can do. I would choose to spend these last two weeks reflecting and collecting my thoughts into journals, as I believe there is something very helpful in organized thought when those that know you personally and look up to you can absorb and apply it to their lives.

Flowing energy

I currently reside in a duplex, so if I took my remodeling too far, it might upset my neighbor.  However, without worry of expense or mess, I would remodel the bathroom and install a tub that is perfect for taking baths, which my girlfriend loves to do.  I would install a deeper sink and lay tile.  The carpet in the living room would have to be changed to an organic fiber with extra padding so it would be nice and comfortable.  Color tones and organization would have to be organized by a professional feng shui interior designer to lend to a more stress reducing environment, while I am in my most personal of areas.

Knowledge is life

September 18th, 2010 admin Comments off

When I am in my most idle moments, I have a few activities that allow me to retain sanity.  The quickest cure is a laptop, Google, and an open mind.  You can find information on nearly any topic.  I keep a journal with random questions and things I hear and see that I either didn’t understand or want to know more about and use that as a jumping off point. My spare time is mainly spent in the pursuit of knowing all that I can possibly know.  I seek knowledge in every sense of the word, in every aspect of my life, so spare time is never spent idle.

Charmion (1875 - 1949), vaudeville strongwoman...

Image via Wikipedia

My Grandma was a strong, if subservient, woman who could make anyone feel better, and was a strong woman who push-mowed her lawn until she was diagnosed with cancer.  Before she was diagnosed, she had this pain in her hip, and not being one to complain she still did her normal duties, such as push mow the lawn and take care of the house.  Come to find out, the pain in her hip was due to the fact that the cancer had completely eaten away her hip and there was little to no hip left.  She push mowed her yard with only one hip at 74 years of age.  That’s what inspires me.

Internet: Social Cure-All?

July 10th, 2010 admin Comments off

The internet has pushed the social nature of human beings to such an amazing level.  I love how it has connected people with similar interests and enabled us to create social movements almost overnight.  Just ask the people in the middle-east.  The internet has allowed us the ultimate exchange of ideas, allowing us to have knowledge of other ways of life, and I believe it will enable us to connect to the point where we may be able to actually enact some actual greater good.  The fact that we may now compare other, sometimes if not usually more impoverished, lifestyles to our own unjustly-complained-about existence is going to, in my opinion; make a lot of people see things differently.

Moderate or Suffer!

February 15th, 2010 admin Comments off

When I was a kid, there was little I loved more than eating.  When I say eating, specifically I mean candy and sweets.  I would stuff my face with an endless supply of gooey, crème-filled, chocolate covered goodness whenever the opportunity arose.  I never got sick, my teeth never hurt, and I wouldn’t gain an ounce. Now that I’m moving more towards “adulthood” my metabolism is slowing to a point where moderating my consumption is a necessity.  When eating sweets, I must set a limit and adhere to it, or I’m going to be hurting for hours or even days afterwards.
